Originally written for clarinet and string trio in 2014, the first movement of Gathering was substantially rewritten in 2023 as a standalone piece for NYC-based Telos Ensemble for their instrumentation of violin, cello, soprano sax, and alto sax.
An insistent underlying tone anchors and eventually pulls down the lines rising above it.
